See our Testimonials Below.

Government Rebates
A range of generous Government Solar rebates are currently available including -
  • Up to $8000 off a solar panel system
  • 60c per kilowatt hour for your surplus solar generated electricity
  • Up to $65,000 for Schools
  • Up to 50% off the capital cost of a solar panel system

Government rebates can be National or State based.  At Alert, we keep it simple for you. We do all the paperwork and whenever possible, take the rebate amount off your invoice so you only need to pay the after rebate amount.

Of course, each rebate has an eligibility criteria to consider so please call us on 1300 389 270 if you have any questions or click here to email us.
Government Tariffs
Various State Governments & Utility Companies now provide a "Feed in Tariff". During the times when you generate more power than you use, excess power is fed back into the grid and you are paid a premium for your excess electricity over and above the normal domestic electricity tariff.

The following tarriffs are anticipated to apply for Victoria from 2009 to 2024.  The premium feed-in tariff will be available for households with small-scale solar photovoltaic systems (up to 2 kilowatts). The premium rate is fixed at 60c per kilowatt hour, which is about four times higher than the standard retail rate consumers pay for electricity.  The  Retailer Top-up Paid is yet tba. Further information regarding tariffs can be obtained from:

Why Solar Power
Most electricity in Australia is generated by burning coal, which emits carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, trapping heat, and increasing temperatures - global warming. It is the most greenhouse intensive form of energy production.

  • In Australia, 90% of electricity comes from coal-fired power stations.
  • In Victoria, households are responsible for over 35% of all energy use.
  • Electricity comsumed by the average household causes twice as many greenhouse gas emissions as the family car every year!

Solar power offers a clean silent and renewable energy that can contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and has the potential to significantly reduce your power bill. These systems which will save you hundreds of dollars are NOW available to you!

This is becoming the most important market for the PV industry. Many councils are installing grid connect systems on their own offices, as well as public buildings, for example libraries and schools.

Solar Power Systems From Alert Electrical

A Grid Connect PV Solar System is like a mini power station on your roof, it feeds electricity to your home, and excess electricity back to the Grid.

  • Generate your own free electricity and get paid for extra fed back into the grid, this will reduce your power bill so that you have little or nothing to pay!
  • Reduce your greenhouse gas emissions by several tonnes per year.
  • Receive various Government grants to assist funding your solar system
  • We visit you and design a customised solar pv system for you
  • We are accredited BCSE installers, unlike other "solar specialist" we don't sub-contract out your solar system to contractors. Therefore you will not have to experience the difficulty of coordinating installers with consultants and the various excuses they give you.  We Do It All And Make Your Experience A Simple Process

How does it work?

The basic idea is simple: - A Photo – Voltaic P.V. cell (Solar Panel) is a battery charger. P.V. cells are composed of silicon wafers. Under certain conditions, the sun’s rays, cause electrons from silicon atoms to be released and become available to move as an electric current. Solar Panels - composed typically of 36 PV cells – are generally rated at about 18 Volts. If they only produced 12 Volts, they would not be able to push a charging current into a 12 Volt battery.

If solar panels are considered as a battery charger, then the larger capacity (size) of the battery bank, the larger the solar panel array will be required. The capacity of the battery bank is determined by the loads (lights + appliances) required, and usually calculated in Amp hours.

Testimonials

Moonee Ponds West Primary School
Moonee Ponds West Primary School was one of the first Victorian schools to access both the State and Commonwealth Solar Grants.  Our SC initially chose Alert Electrical as the successful tender due to them offering not only a very competitive tender, but they were also our local supplier, which meant a lot to our community.  Alert Electrical staff were a pleasure to do business with.  Stuart could not do enough to ensure the project progressed incredibly smoothly, from design to installation to handover we could not have been more pleased with his firm’s commitment to excellence.
