Our challenge was to reduce the energy consumption for a 14-level apartment block run by a body corporate. We conducted an energy audit of the property and achieved a possible economic saving of $6,732 per annum.
With energy costs forecast to rise, this potential saving will only increase each year. At the time of the audit the result of the actions taken will be a reduction in electricity consumption of lighting alone of 430,366 KWh, equivalent to 29,795 MJ of energy each week. This will provide an annual energy saving of 1,547 GJ and a cost savings in excess of $6,732 per annum.
The project will provide a return on investment in less than 2.5 years. In addition to this 60.25 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions and 430, 366 litres of water will be saved each year.
